I seriously want to find out something as I still find this amazing. Does anyone have their child or children under 2 already registered at a prep school? Are we still required to do registration from we know the sex of the child? I have heard but have not checked out if this is so or a myth. Please do tell.

Wow Prep schools have really changed since I was a child. It was pretty easy in my time.
not to mention the amount of work they’re getting …whew ! my brother is currently in prep school and work that i did in 1st form is what he’s doing in grade 4 ! can u believe it ????
The curriculum is always so advanced. I remember going to 1st form and thinking I learnt this already.
ok
But Prep schools no longer ensure that one goes to a traditional High School. Thankfully.
yes, thankfully
though that too has it’s disadvantages, parents sometime feel like in sending a child to prep school they are making a sacrifice and expect rewards.
u mean rewards in terms of the high school they r sent to ?
Yeah. For some parents they see Prep schools as an investment.
in general, sending ur child to school is an investment….. when u invest u get returns ….ur definitely not gonna invest in sup’m ur not sure to get returns from . at the end of the day parents look forward to getting things from their gets when they’re old ……..so yes, sending ur child to school is an investment ….whether primary or prep
But before the system was that Prep Schools gave you a greater opportunity to go to a traditional High School. It’s changing now though.
i tend to favor prep schools to primary though …….the child gets more attention and a lot less students …….
True. For me though I’d send my child to a prep school because that is where I went but I’m beginning to see the advantage of primary schools.
initially i went to prep but my parents couldn’t afford it so i went to prim…… advantages …ok
Primary school children tend to tougher i think.
soooooo true ! omg !!!!! …..my brother is kind of a whimp ….i try to toughen him up a bit though which often ends in a wrestling match lol! ( with me winning ofcourse ) ……..i want him to stand up 4 what he wants but at the same time knowing when to back down ……. i grew tough lol! trust me
haha well he’ll prob develop wit, it’s a useful prep school method. I never got physical but I could always use my words.
hehe ……which can be just as sharp
Yes it can, lol.
lol!!!
*be tougher
yup, i c it
No school can compare to the exposure you get from Prep schools; the field trips etc. It was a good experience.
i miss primary school ……those days the only thing i had to worry abt was choosing the right color crayons to color my drawing ……..
Life was simpler.
yeah….. waaaaaay simplier
ok, i get u
Yeah I figured.
yeah, pretty much
When it comes to getting in Prep Schools or any schools in general it is becoming more and more important to do it is probably best to start from your 7 weeks pregnant, just to have options.
yes i agree lia …
education is the key my friend ….it should not be compromised …..
That is true.
yes it is

No no dear it is not a myth. At some schools the enrollment for 2013 has been booked since 2010 and you have to go thru an interview process with the child…imagine that! When you have such an appointment for you and your son you know that you have entered the world of Jamaica’s elites…hmmm

Jamaican elites, so true, everything is just changing and somewhat replicating the American system.

social stratification at its best

I understand that in interview the child you want to see if they are able to adapt but are children admitted because of what they can do or who they are, or how long their parents planned.

i do not c the point of an interview. i wonder if these schools actually turn away children …. it goes against the principle “every child should learn, every child must learn “………i think what they really wanna know in that interview is what the parents can do 4 them …..

But Prep School’s are private, they aren’t governed by the “every child should learn, every child must learn’ principle. Plus it is important I think for them to meet the child before admitting them.

i get ur point but it should be governed by it or else i do not c the point of that school …..

True, as long they decide on a method on how to admit students because we know they can’t accept all applicants. Most schools aren’t big enough.

yes, a method which upholds equality …

Yes definitely. I hope the schools are close to getting there.
